Why are you guys doing this?

Great things come from the people around us, often a friend has another friend who needs the kind of work that we do, but like ships passing in the night they never get to meet. We wanted to find a way to encourage those meetings and at the same time show our appreciation for those helping.

What exactly do I get for helping you get business?

The short version is that you get money, as much as 12% of the contract. So that means if you help of bring in a new project or client you could be walking away with thousands of dollars. If that sounds good, and you want to read the long version, which we recommend you do, you can read it here.

What does a qualified lead mean?

There are a couple of elements of a qualified lead and are worth keeping in mind. 1. Fight needs to be introduced to appropriate contacts within a potential client organization. These contacts either are appropriate decision makers, or can reasonably be expected to provide access to them. 2. The organization is in need of the kinds of services that Fight typically provides. 3. The organization can reasonably be expected to pay the kinds of fees that Fight charges for its work. Additionally if the lead or organization had knowledge about how Fight works and why, that will help determine a level of interest and commitment.

When do I get paid?

In short, You get paid when we do.
You will get your percentage of the project each time we get paid for work that came from you. Unfortunately that usually means no upfront payments.

What happens if the relationship/project ends prematurely, do I still get paid?

If the project is ended early either by the client, by us, or some other way, your payments will stop when ours do even if it's less than the client contract was originally for. In the unlikely event that we have to involve lawyers in order to get paid you'll get your percentage after any legal fee, or other fees related to getting the payment, are deducted.

How long do I get a paid for the lead?

You get paid a percentage of what we actually receive from the client in the first year. If the actual work that we sign with the client is for longer than one year, you still only get your percentage of the amount that we get paid in the first year.

What is a Separation Date?

The "separation date" is the day you have fully handed off the lead, this is important as it is the day that the 'pay timer' starts.

When does the Separation Date start?

If you've sent us an email that says something like: "You should contact Bob Jones at Ronco. I've told him about your company and he's eager to meet you!" (yes, it can be as simple as this), then the separation date will be the day of the email if you do nothing else. If there is more information for you to share, then the date will be when you are done sharing it. If you help us beyond just providing the lead (such as helping us put together an appropriate presentation) then the date will be when you have stopped doing that. In any case we'll try to make it as plain as we can what date we're currently working from since it is as important to us as it is to you.
To protect us from malicious intentions we reserve the right to ask you cease involvement. In the unlikely event of this happening you will be credited for bringing us the lead and entitled to getting paid for any work that results from it as per the conditions of this program.

What if i bring you a lead that is not used?

Not every lead or project is going to be the right fit for Fight. There are many reasons that we may not go forward with a lead. We'll try to tell you why, but we will definitely tell you if we decided not to pursue it.

If a lead that was dead ends up turning into work later on, do get paid for it?

Yes! As long as it falls within the 1 years mark from your separation date then you are entitled to a percentage of what we are paid during that time. But, we decide which work that we get is related to the work you helped us land. We aim to be fair here (if you're pleased, you're more likely to find us new work, which we like), but you may not be aware of all of the elements in play when we get new work, so even if it looks like it was based on work you helped us win, it may not be. You can ask us about it, and most of the time we should be able to tell you why.

How long is one year as it relates to being credited with the relationship?

A year is from one month and day, through the month and day the following year. So if your separation date was March 1st, you'll get paid for anything we bill for through (and including) March 1st of the next year.

What if I give you a lead that I have been working on, for a company you have been talking with already?

If your contribution leads directly to us closing that business, then you get a percentage that we decide based on how close we felt we were before your lead. This one's subjective. Sorry about that, but we can't see another way to do this. If your contribution leads us to a new part of a company, then you get the regular payout. By the same token, if we close business in the same company but unrelated to your lead, you won't get a part of that.

Do you need help setting up the contract or pay schedule?

Thank you, but that is alright. We reserve the right to completely determine with the client what Fight's fees will be, and when the client will pay us. This will effect you because your percentage will be based on how much we make, and when we get paid will determine when you get paid. Unfortunately these things have to be up to us to decide. But rest assured, we like to make money and we like to get paid, so your best interests are aligned with ours here.

Does Fight ever do trade in work for goods? Am I at risk of not getting paid in money?

There's an almost zero (but existing) chance that we won't get paid in money.
We expect to get paid in actual money, rather than in goods or in-kind services. If, in the extremely unlikely case that we get paid in something other than actual money, then we'll most likely still pay you in actual dollars based on the value of what we're getting paid. But if this does happen, you can assume we'll have a conversation with you to see what makes the most sense.

If the project ends abruptly, will I still get paid?

We don't expect this to happen. We certainly don't want this to happen, but projects sometimes end before they were supposed to. The client might end it for any reason, or we might end it. In any case, you'll get your percentage based on the amount that we actually receive. If we get less because the project ends early, then so do you.

I have more questions, where can I find the answers?

If you see things you have questions about, ask us before handing over any leads. We'll answer the questions as best we can and you can decide if you still want to hand over your lead. If you wait until after you hand over the lead, you'll need to live with any decisions that we make.
